WOW! It's been 18-20 years since I've visited Atlanta, GA. By luck, I came across this establishment while I was in town visiting Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and historic landmarks. I am extremely proud that this business is still open. I was a teenager when I first visited, and a lot has changed. Unfortunately, like many restaurants' portions are smaller and prices have increased. Customer service is still exceptional! The atmosphere is serene and laid back. I ordered the baked spaghetti dinner with macaroni & cheese, cabbage, and cornbread. Everything was delicious! The price and portion I received were decent.
Delicious comfort food and the biggest piece of fried catfish I've ever seen! And there were two of them!! We ate in the restaurant, although many people were taking food to go at lunch time. My friend even got some more food to go after lunch - it was that good! I had plenty of leftovers for another meal and they reheated in perfectly in the toaster oven.
My friend and I wanted some good soul food, so we went here and OMG!!!!! The salmon was touched by Jesus MY!!!MY!!MY!! He had the chicken dinner everything was so good.. will be back next week
My cousin recommended we try a historic establishment. This is a cafeteria style restaurant and definitely packed with after service patrons. It was so many delicious choices and I couldn't decide so I got 2 dinners. The first was short ribs, cabbage and dressing. Then fried chicken, macaroni and cheese with yams. I must say the shoe ribs were tender and succulent. The gravy is top tier. The lemon pound cake is to die for. The customer service from Henry was fantastic I can see why this is a neighborhood staple.
This cornerstone still has it! Super friendly, professional and engaging staff. I got my order online/pickup order in before 6pm on a Sunday; 2 Veggie plates. Collards, Mac/cheese black eyed peas, cabbage, rutabaga, white ( they ran out of the yams and called me before I arrived to substitute) Everything was delicious! Well balanced, seasoned and fresh!
